Wheatland Housing Management Body (WHMB) is continually seeking funding opportunities for the New Build. We are excited to have identified two possibilities in 2026!
As expected, the 2026 Affordable Housing Partnership Program (AHPP) has been re-opened by the Government of Alberta (GOA). This year, the GOA is allocating $200 million dollars toward affordable housing.
The WHMB Board of Directors recently passed a motion to enhance and re-submit the AHPP application, together with and Wheatland and Area Hospice Society (WAHS).
In addition, the Government of Canada has opened a new program, Build Canada Homes, which will replace the CMHC Affordable Housing Fund. This program has allocated one billion dollars toward affordable housing in 2026.
To better assess this opportunity, WHMB has invited the municipalities to an information session on January 6, 2026.
The session will provide an update on project progress and address the impact of fund stacking with provincial and federal funding programs.
We look forward to discussing the role of the municipalities and what support would be required to help advance the project in relation to funding and financing applications.
